This Mango and Blood Orange Smoothie is sweet, healthy and satisfying. I love mango, and blood orange pairs so well – with a dash of lime for an extra zing! This smoothie is simply delicious!

I personally love smoothies as a meal replacement or snack. Great for when I am feeling hungry but not starving and want something satisfying and a little filling.

A smoothie is just the perfect thing – plus it is bound to meet at least 2 of your 5 a day so its a win win right?! This Mango and Blood Orange Smoothie gives you 2 of your 5 a day and a mega vitamin C hit – which is exactly what we should all be ensuring we get at the moment! Vitamin C is vital for your nutrition and to strengthen your immune system.

What Blender Should I Use?

You will need a good blender for any smoothie recipe to ensure a smooth consistency. My current blender is the Nutri Ninja Blender System. I highly recommend this blender if you want something multi functional, reliable and budget friendly. I bought mine 3 years ago, when I moved into my flat and finally upgraded my ancient Kenwood blender! The blender is great and I am super happy with it and all its various uses and will probably use it until I can afford my very own Thermomix 😛

What do i need?

  • A good smoothie blender – without a good blender you will struggle to get the perfect smoothie consistency.
  • Ripe Sweet Mango’s – I like to use pakistani mango’s for smoothies and even pastes for sauces. They are super sweet and meaty. I also keep frozen mango chunks from Costco in my freezer.
  • Blood Oranges – I love blood oranges on their own or freshly squeezed. Tip: they are great in mimosa’s too!
  • Lime – I always buy limes on my weekly grocery shop, you never know when they might come in handy and they are great in water.

Tips & Tricks –

  • I often use frozen fruit for my smoothies as then you don’t have to water down the taste with ice!
  • If you like your smoothies really runny have some milk, yogurt or juice on standby. While blending just add to your liking little by little.
  • Use fresh juice from blood oranges not carton concentrate juice for the best flavour!
